In my 20 years of delivering enterprise-wide change efforts, more efforts ran into trouble than not. In most cases, we were able to turn things around.
Some classic signs your change effort is faltering are:
š Your project timeline has gone off the rails. What you thought might take six weeks is now taking six months. To get your project back on track, focus on your people. What needs to be done to transform them from Awareness and Desire to Knowledge and Ability? This is change management.
š” Your employees are resisting. They may be overwhelmed, overworked, or simply willing to wait you out to see if this change will go by the wayside like other change efforts. Take the time to understand the root cause of what is happening, go back to the reason for the change, and make sure your employees understand what is at stake. Change happens for a reason.
š One key factor in successful change is the role of your people managers. If they're not fully on board or lack the necessary skills to guide their teams through the change, it's time to step back and provide them with the support they need. Remember, your people leaders are your most powerful allies in communicating the change. But before they can do that effectively, they need to be fully committed.
Organizations don't change; People Do.
At Inspired Consulting Solutions, we place people at the heart of change. We would love to talk to you about your change efforts.
